These meetings are quite clarifying for people who want to know us and see firsthand what it is that we are proposing.
Each conference begins with music, we sing the songs to see many people leaving the room, disappointed or annoyed because our offer is not what they would like it to be. In many cases, people expect practices of indigenous populations or shamans to be maintained. In the end, those that remain are open in their hearts to some we use during the experiences with Ayahuasca or Bufo Alvarius. These songs have been composed by musicians of our organization, who also share how they discovered the medicines and how it changed their lives. Our own testimonies are central, because we believe that when we appear in public it is important to be open, to let people in so that they may experience and see us in what we sing and share. Public appearances make us vulnerable, and yet we like to take the stand and open up, event to those that criticize us.
Our team in Ayahuasca International® is well aware that people will attend in order to criticize or make derogatory remarks about how we work with ancestral medicines. That’s part of the show. And yet, it is interesting thing new about the use of these natural medicines that, for us, should break free from cultures, religion or traditions so as to reach further.
During my brief conferences, I generally touch on topics related to inner development and the need to break free from limiting beliefs, to de-contextualize ourselves from our everyday medium and from our origins for the sake of reaching new levels of understanding. The central topic of our conferences is the possibility to shatter internal limitations and create the necessary conditions to expand the hidden potential that rests in the deepest part of our essence.
Many people react negatively when confronted to the fact that they can go further. Some come with the question: Who authorized you to do what you do with these sacred medicines? Our experience accumulated in more than 30 journeys into the jungle to learn from shamans, as well as our trajectory in using ayahuasca with more than 30,000 people, are enough to sufficiently support what we do. And, apart from that, we do not need dad’s authorization or mom’s approval to decide what to do or how to do our job. WE ARE FREE TO DECIDE. This is our secret: we do not depend physically, spiritually or emotionally from any political, religious or shamanic organization, or any other person. We chose so freely, and it gives us the freedom necessary to work with the people who have trust in our method.
Ayahuasca allowed us to take off from the contexts in which we were born and raised. This is why we share this plant or amazonian medicine and travel the world to bring this new solution closer to thousands of people. We are on the same boat with ayahuasca, sailing across the world and bringing good news to those that are open to the new and original alternatives offered by self development and healing.
