WHAT PEOPLE READ AND BELIEVE GIVES POWER TO WHAT IS SAID AND WRITTEN
The obsession around speaking badly and the pleasure of listening to sensational news gives meaning to the lives of people who love judgement and rejection.
I want to share a great text from Osho who reflects on this theme that is always current and that is increasingly pronounced by the growing power that social networks and media have in which billions of people can and have the right to express themselves, even if what they say has no foundation or truthfulness.
TEXT FROM OSHO IN THE YEAR 1987 ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT SPEAK BADLY AND WELL OF HIM:
Even though they do not know me nor have heard of me, in all parts of the world people believe that it is perfectly lawful to write all kinds of lies, rumours and false allegations about me without having any proof. At best they use comments as arguments.
Negative people have a great ability to express themselves, because you do not have to be too intelligent to speak badly. Any idiot can do it. But to speak well you must have intelligence and courage. A negative person is not afraid, nor ashamed. They do not know or have not had any experience, therefore it is sensational to deny, lie, or invent a story.
Those who do not know me write anything about me. Whatever the first thing is that passes through their head is expressed without any impediment.
People who know me and are in deep communion with me, who have experienced me, are silent. It is part of the strange human mentality. Positive people are more humble and feel embarrassed to say anything, because everything they say will not live up to what they have experienced, they will always be short words, so they are ashamed.
Some of my disciples who have been with me since the beginning have written books with solid facts, figures and arguments that respond to all lies and false claims. The masses are interested in sensationalism, not the truth.
THE LIE IS SENSATIONALAL AND HAS A HUGE AUDIENCE. THE TRUTH IS SIMPLE AND FLAT, AND DOES NOT CAPTURE THE ATTENTION OF LISTENERS AND READERS.
This tendency should be reversed. Positive people should to express themselves much more and share their direct experiences with resolve and energy. They could talk about what they know about me. Unless they do, they will indirectly be helping negative people. Why does not anyone say the opposite of what negative people say?
For all the readers of this blog, I want to tell you something about everything negative that is said about me. I have verified that the negative is convincing, but insignificant. The positive is soft, but powerful.
The negative distances many people from what I propose and share, but indirectly it also attracts them. A couple came from Israel recently to meet me in Berlin, because they knew that I was in that retreat. When they introduced themselves they said: “We have come to meet you, because you are so badly spoken about that something you must have something good in your hands.”
Many people who reject and judge me do not miss a single article and tell me they can not stop reading. So it is clear that they are healing the wound of rejection and are confronting internal judgements.
This is how the inverse law of the mysteries of life works. To speak badly can be a great publicity campaign, and speaking well can take away interest and importance, because ultimately the human mind is far from the truth, that’s why it has become in an incessant search.
The truth is not in any apparently objective fact, but in the private and exclusive subjectivity of the one who observes. The truth is a secret that lives in the heart.
