What is Ho´oponopono?

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian art for resolving life problems.

HO’O means CAUSE in Hawaiian, and PONOPONO means PERFECTION.

HO’OPONOPONO means “correct an erros”, or “rectify a mistake”. It is a system that allows us to cleanse the beliefs hidden in our subconscious. Ancient Hawaiian shamans used it to settle family problems. This is a very simple but truly effective method to change our limiting beliefs. Our universe is created by thoughts and thoughts come from our beliefs, meaning that everything we see in the world of form is the result of everything we think.

According to this philosophy, everything that appears in our life is a thought, a memory, a running program (an error of perception) it exists to give the opportunity to let go, cleanse, delete in order to be reborn and begin again.

“The principal purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity inside oneself. Ho’oponopono is profound gift that allows us to develop a mutual relationship with the Divinity inside of ourselves and to learn to ask that our errors of thought, words, behavior and actions be cleared at every moment. The aim of this process is to essentially achieve freedom, complete freedom from our past”.

Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona

(19 May 1913 – 11 February 1992) She was the one who created the concept of Self Identity through Ho’oponopono.

Morrnah’s updated version of this ancient Hawaiian philosophy of problem resolution is a true treasure. Prior to the update, the way Ho’oponopono was practiced required the presence of the whole family. A moderator was present and each member had the opportunity to forgive and be forgiven by others. Today, families do not live together or as close as they once did and bringing the whole family in one place at the same time is not so simple.

Self Identity through Ho’oponopono applies technique to create a mutual cooperation among the three parts of the mind: the unconscious, the conscious and the super conscious. This allows us to restore our inner personal connection with love, our Divine Source, which brings us peace, harmony and freedom.

Love accomplishes this process by flowing through the Spiritual Mind or Super Consciousness, continues to flow through the Conscious Mind, freeing it from excessive rationalization and terminates in the Emotional Mind or unconscious, where it nullifies all the thoughts weighed by toxic emotions, and replaces them with unconditional Love.

Through this technique we have the ability to act in the most authentic way from our true Self, to go back to the state of original perfection, where no division or duality existed in us. It allows us to reset to a blank slate…where preconceived ideas do not exist and where reigns a perfect state of peace, only by asking the Divine that what lies within us, that which provoked a division in our thoughts, rises to the surface to be released.

Asking forgiveness to the Divine for hosting thoughts that have separated us from our Unity with Spirit… the pernicious and recurring thought disappears. Once released, the space immediately fills with a loving sense of Oneness with everything.

There are no limits to the number of times this tool can be used, especially with regards to transmuting our thoughts into pure light, and those of our family, our ancestors and descendants. This tool is a request to purify toxic thoughts that cause real disconnections in our perception.

HO´OPONOPONO IS SIMPLE PROCESO

For the ancient Hawaiians, all problems begin to take shape as thoughts. The problem does not lie in having thoughts. The problem resides in the thoughts that are filled with painful memories about people, places or things. We are the sum of all our experiences, which means that we are burdened by our past experiences. If we observe closely when we experience stress or fear in our life we would realize that the cause lies in our memory. The emotions tied to these memories affect us now. The subconscious associates an action or a person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this happened, emotions get activated producing stress.

Our intellect alone cannot solve these issues because its role is only to manage these processes. It manages things and cannot solve everything – in order to go deeper into this flow it’s necessary to have an open and flexible mind.

When doing Ho’oponopono, the inner Divinity takes responsibility of the painful thoughts, it neutralizes and purifies them. Practicing Ho’oponopono does not mean purifying people, place or any thing, but rather the painful energy associated with these people, places and things is purified. Therefore, the Ho’oponopono’s first stage of the purification of energies.

At this point, something wonderful happens: the energy is not only neutralized; it appears, disappears, leaving a blank page in its place where it is possible to write a new reality. The final stage is to allow Divinity to show up and fill the void of the blank page with Divine Light.

In order to do Ho’oponopono it is not necessary to stop and investigate what mistake was committed. What is needed is just to determine and perceive the existence of physical, mental or emotional situations that are overwhelming us. In the practice, taking responsibility immediately begins to heal the essence of such situations, by simply saying: “I regret it. Please forgive me. I’m sorry. I love you”.
