THE EXPERIENCE WITH AYAHUASCA
¿ A THING OF TRADITION OR AN INTERNAL ATTITUDE OF THOSE WHO OPEN THEMSELVES UP TO TRANSFORMATION?
Personal evolution is not a straight line, nor necessarily ascending.
Growth is a spiral toward the light of consciousness.
People who access the experience with ayahuasca don’t necessarily achieve maximum utilization by mere contact with the infusion.
We have seen thousands of participants of ceremonies and workshops who do not get out of their mental loops, or the gloomy hole of their conditioning.
They continue accumulating anger against others and against themselves.
As with psychotherapy, the moments of realization, of reconfiguration of our reality through the experiences with ayahuasca most often occur in the context of our relationships, in the heat of our daily lives.
But these flashes of consciousness are not produced fortuitously through a grace granted by the infusion, but through a task of reflection, introspection and conscious healing.
It is this same process that supports a well implemented therapeutic approach that helps the person to dig deeper and overcome their barriers. Without this psychotherapeutic support, the experience with ayahuasca could be reduced to a tourist visit to a theme park of the imagination; a reaffirmation of the usual procrastination. We must support the decisions that appear in the chamber of actions of healing.
The psychotherapeutic approach is not a panacea, but it represents a more than useful tool in the processes of evolution and personal development.
Include shamanism and some of their techniques: yes. Get stuck in purism that denies Western and urban realities of people: no.
We have effective, operational, and functional tools that give a powerful and real momentum to the processes of people who are really committed to their growth, development, and evolution. Let us thank them and use them wisely.
Psychotherapeutic integration is advocated by authorities on the subject, such as Claudio Naranjo, Jacques Mabit, Gabor Maté and other professionals of international prestige.
There is widespread evidence that not only by drinking more and more ayahuasca, one can be a better person or cease to be everything that makes us suffer. Ayahuasca does not guarantee the transformation of anyone. For this reason we accompany the process of ayahuasca with appropriate psychotherapy for understanding each of the points that hinder the evolutionary process of a person. It’s precisely there, when you can see the knots and when one takes full advantage of the experience with ayahuasca.
Many are reluctant to delve deeply into their issues for fear of seeing what is there, for fear of discovering the true cause of their suffering. These people even attack the psychotherapeutic work with pointless arguments over the alleged incompatibility of ayahuasca and psychotherapy. In the end it is the fear to dive in and see themselves. They prefer to drink ayahuasca their whole life to soothe the symptoms of unresolved trauma, which is also valid, but is not what we are about.
